Men’s Open

This traditional men's league has opened up to women and mixed teams. It consists of teams who decide they want to play together and enter a team in the league at the beginning of the curling season. We will try to place you on a team if you do not have one.

The teams are divided into squares and the schedule is based on a point system for a win, loss or tie. The points tally at the end of each draw will determine a team’s placing for the next draw.

Open Seniors
Games are played on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10:00 am, starting October 4, 2023. This is a very fun league for our 55+ members. Mini bonspiels and organized lunches make this league extra social. Games are played on Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:00 pm and Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. This league is for U18 curlers that will probably play at the High School playdowns. The initial part of the year focuses on learning and skill development. Once the High School Curling season begins, schools work with students to form their respective High School teams. Following the conclusion of the High School season, U18 teams are formed weekly, engaging in games until March.

Juniors
Games are played on Saturday at 9:30 am, starting in October. This league is a great place to start, as it involves skill development and game play. We have little rocks for kids starting at 6 years old, and regular rocks for the older kids. Children under age 12 must bring a helmet to wear on the ice.

Nisei League
Games are played every Sunday at 6:30 pm, starting in October. Originally exclusive to Japanese participants, this league has evolved into a popular mixed format that experiences high demand but occasionally seeks new members. The league hosts engaging events such as food auctions, dinners, and an end-of-year bonspiel with a Japanese theme.

League schedules, teams, and results can be found in the members’ section when you log in.

Curling Etiquette

  • Start and end with a handshake: At the beginning of the game, greet the members of the opposing team with a handshake, tell them your name, and wish them “good curling”. Once the game is over, offer each of the players a hearty handshake and move off the ice. The winning curlers traditionally offer their counterparts some refreshments.
  • Use the adequate shoes: The shoes you wear should only be used for curling. Before stepping into the ice, make sure to change your shoes to keep the ice clean.
  • Respect your opponent: Compliment good shots, no matter which team makes them.
  • Be ready and keep the game moving: Take your position in the hack as soon as your opponent has delivered his/her stone. Be prepared to sweep as soon as your teammate releases the rock. If your game is an end or two behind all other games you should pick up the pace. You can place your skip’s rock in front of the hack to help speed up the game.
  • Follow the rules: After delivering your stone, move to the side of the sheet between the “hog” lines, unless you are the skip. Leads and seconds are not permitted in “house” or “rings”, except when sweeping or to remove the stones after the count has been determined by the vices.
  • Be courteous: Don’t distract your opponent in the hack. Sweepers should stay on the sidelines between the hog lines when not sweeping.
